I had/have the same problem. I don't want to take my x5 apart right now, but here's what I use as a temporary fix.

Start with the stylus on the keyboard button. Draw a very tight zig zag pattern all the way up to the start button. With this pattern, you'll touch nearly 90% of the screen. Raise the stylus when you get to the start button. Should work fine for a while after that. At least, it does for me.
