Ghost can do much more than just make a bit-image of a disk. It can allow the IT folks to build a bunch of computers all at once, all very quickls, and even allow different computers to have different video and network drivers installed. And, of course, each computer can have a different size disk. And that's how Ghost started being used by some of us laypeople. If a disk drive goes and you have a ghost image, you can go buy a new, bigger disk and ghost your image on the new drive with no problems.
Still, I agree, for us lay folks, Ghost is usually not worth the money.
