Built-in storage is a perk for unused space in the FlashROM that you can use to store data. The advantage to this is that when you do a hard reset, your data in the built-in storage will not be erased unlike everything else in the RAM.
The Axim doesn't save notes to memory cards even though you set it to "Memory card (if available)". Your best bet is to move those files manually using the file explorer. Another alternative is to mess with the registry to have files default to your memory card but I found no such code.
