Activesync not stable!

I recently purchased an X50V, everything is fine until my activesync became so unstable couple of days ago.
I have the 3.7.1 version and I am using a Toshiba laptop PC.

From a normal activesync connection, when I remove my ppc from the cradle and put it back it will beep and about 2 secs. after it beeps again and no connection will be established. I tried some solutions like... deleting the partnership and restarting the pc, as well as doing soft reset my ppc. Sometimes it will go back to normal but after I remove again the ppc from its cradle maybe 3 or 4 times the problem happens again...

Please help me...

Also last night I was able to sync wirelessly, I was so excited then the problem occured again and I wasnt able to connect with the cradle as well as my wireless...

I am also using Mobsync to sync my SD files... This thing works fine with me though...

Just give them time. The developer is relatively new at this software development thing and they might not know the best way to interface Windows Mobile with Desktops.

well I've had my AX for about 3 months now, and have gone from 3.7 - 3.8 - 4.0 and that exact same problem has occured with all3 versions, and after hard resets & windows uninstalls...

just going to try 4.1 tonight see if that has the same problem, but looks like usb drivers are being updated...

atm I cannot sync AT ALL now for last 5 days, even with uninstalls and soft resets... so hopefully 4.1 will fix this

Ok thanks... I'll try to upgrade to 3.8 I hope it will work with my system. But if the 3 versions are not also stable, I just hope they can make something that can atleast stay overnight...

Thanks..

well it makes no F**king different weither it's AS 3.x to 4.1 as they are all broken.

I think it's the Windows Mobile active sync driver thats busted.. ie M$ dodgey software strikes again.

load card export and no problems with device, load process manager and switch to AS and AS on the PPC shuts down after 3 seconds of AS to desktop. no Avantgo installed ( this was known to cause issues)
so now a week without syncing my contacts/apointments/tasks...

damn Palm using WM on their devices, otherwise I would sell this pos and buy a reliable Palm OS device...

solve my issue.

One thing to check if you are having probs is to check the wcesync log file ( usually in c:\windows or c:\program files\microsoft activesysnc\ ) or around there.

I found that the error was AS could not install a particular DLL because Sunnysoft backup had installed a later version of the same file and so AS 4.0/4.1 didn't replace this file.

I have to uninstall all conduits ( sunnysoft & pockettvlisting) uninstall AS, reboot a couple of times, delete the offending dll files ( in safe mode) then re-install AS ( it didn't work straight away, but came back in the morning and it worked...)

when it wasn't working I pluged the AX into another PC to see if it was the PPC or the PC & it appeared to sync with the other PC just fine, so it was a Computer issue not a PPC issue.

hope this helps someone else.

cheers, stevo.

Hmm... not the "new" developer's fault ...

Although I found it amusing

Open Outlook on the pc
Open the inbox
click tools tab
click preferences
click email options
put a check mark in each box BUT the top one
on replies....do not include
on forwarding....include
NO CHECK IN BOTTOM BOX
---------------------------
click mail setup tab
click email accounts
check the view or change box
this brings up another page showing the email accounts that you have set up....it should not be blank
highlight your account and click change
look very closely...this is where most errors occur...look at every word, every period
all 6 boxes need to be filled in
leave secure authentification unchecked
now click on "test account settings"
did it pass? if so...problem solved
if not, cick the "errors" tab and tell me what it says

there are several other settings but lets stop here and see if it now works...if not, we'll look further
remember to let me know!

Why hasn't someone come out with an activesync alternative? I hate activesync. Can't someone make a better product then M$ AS? Maybe something that has more functionality and allows more control?

Please God let there be an alternative soon?
If it's free take it, I always say!
The only reason I still have my home PC is to sync my PDA. Otherwise what good is it for? I give it 10 years at most and the home PC will be replaced with the Pocket PC.

Axim x50v
Sena case for Axim x50v
Sandisk 1GB SD Card
Kingston 1GB SD Card
Kingston 1GB CF Card
Over 2.5GB of Pocket PC Software and never paid a dime (get friends and family to by them for me... SUCKERS! )

One thing that I found in order to pinpoint the problem was to uncheck all sync options (in active sync window - tools, options). And then one by one add the calendar then sync. Add the contacts then sync, etc. There could be a conflict with one of the options. Mine was with favorites. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to sync, especially when in a hurry.
