Hi guys, hope you can help

Got my first PDA last week (AXIM X51v). All going well until i tried to sync to my laptop (DELL Lattitude500).

I have tried about 5 or 6 times and i cannot make that 1st connection. (all you people who say "It was working last week, but now nothing" are relatively lucky :) )

I install the program from the disk and then it open up the wizard;
-attach sync cable
-turn unit on
-link unit to cable...

and then thats as far as we get, AS starts to move, and i a 'CONNECTING' status, with the moving green disk, but i never seem to connect.

Called Dell, and have gone through the following but still no help
-soft reset
-hard reset
-uninstall and then reinstall AS

can anyone suggest anything else??

I read somthing about firwalls (run ZONELABS). I have made sure i disbaled this, my XP firewalls were not running.

Not sure where to go now, can anyone help?

Just as an aside, to do other downloads like games, music etc, do i need to use AS or should my PC pick up the mobile device and let me 'drag and drop' so to speak?? (PC does recognise the device in Windows Explorer)

it sounds like the firewall isnt really disabled. you should see two entries in ZA under ProgramControl>Programs. they are ActiveSync Connection Manager and ActiveSync Application. they should both be set to allow for Access and Server. and the trust level should be at 3 bars. That should allow it thru to everything. hope this helps

I've totally unistalled ZA and Norton but still no luck. Been through the whole AS uninstall/reinstall but still the same.

Can anyone else make any suggestions
