I have posted several reports in this forum about the seemingly unsolvable problem of not being able to install ActiveSync 4 on three of my four computers. I am posting this as a new thread so it will get seen by more readers.
I am a staunch Eudora (a better email program ) user and I have it installed on all the computers. After following several links starting with an email report from PocketPC Mag, (and ending up here,
http://bevhoward.com/ASync.htm), I found a rather obscure reference to the fact that Eudora installs its own mapi32.dll file, if set to do so, since MS in its great wisdom does not allow other (non MS) programs to use it, or something to that effect.
After setting the MAPI to either "never" or "only when Eudora is running", (with Eudora not running) all the machines installed ActiveSync 4 with no problem what so ever. This is after almost 9 hours with MS Tech Support, all to no avail.
