Can't sync, X51V using bluetooth

I've paired the Axim with the desktop, get connected OK in My Bluetooth Places, but ActiveSync can't find the device. When AS tries to connect, I get...

"Microsoft ActiveSync cannot recognize this device for one of two reasons:
* The device was not connected properly. To start over, disconnect the cable and remove the device from its cradle. Then, connect the cable to the PC, turn on the device, and place the device in its cradle.
If the device is still not recognized, click Help.
* The device is not a Smartphone or Pocket PC. To keep ActiveSync from trying to connect to this or any other device on the port, select the check box below.
Stop ActiveSync from looking for device on the serial/infrared port."

In My Bluetooth Places, properties for the connection specify COM 4, and I have Allow Connections to COM 4 in ActiveSync, but ActiveSync seems not to see the Axim. I can sync using the cradle and USB (if I don't change the default mail client from Outlook to Eudora--argh!).

Hmmm, just noticed an item in Systay with a red "X" saying Bluetooth Network, Network cable unplugged. If I Disable/Enable the connection in Network Connections, it stays broken. The TCP/IP, etc. properties for that connection it look normal.

Any suggestions?

Larry
