Activesync 4.0 and Norton Firewall - Do I really have to turn off firewall manually??

Everytime I am trying to sync my x51 using AS4.0 I have to manually turn off my firewall.

I tried the fix, windows suggests on their Activesync support website but this didnt do any good for me.

How, do I avoid having to manually turn off the Firewall at Norton??

I think there is a list of "approved" programs that you can give total access. I think it is under "Configure." The Norton site might give you some hints.

Step 7

Repeat steps 5 and 6 to add the following applications:

Wcescomm.exe
Rapimgr.exe
CEAPPMGR.exe
(C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ if installed in C drive with default settings)

When all of these are added, the "Program Control" window should show these programs in the list at the bottom.

Navigate to the "Advanced" tab
Step 8

In the "Advanced" Tab, click on General…
Step 9

In the General Rules Window, click on Add.

Thank you very much for the detailed instruction.

I already tried most of it before and just now did it again - wihtout success.

I still have to manually disable the firewall.

Not sure what else to try.

thanks again for the instructions. Unfortunately, now I am not able to sync anymore at all.

I have tried everything I know off (uninstalled AS4, repeated Firewall settings, reinstalled, soft reset, hard reset, etc etc etc).

Besides that, my x51 keeps on freezing anytime I am plugging in the USB cable. I am starting to consider returning the x51 to Dell and instead buying a x50 with 2003se.
