Activesync 4.0/4.1 not sync all contacts
Before few weeks I acquired a brand new x51v. Until now I have not found a solution about a serious problem, fortunately the only one: Activesync not sync all contacts from my Outlook .pst file but a part of this.

I have done already the actions bellow:

I have check the .pst file and isn’t corrupt.
I have totally uninstalled from my system the Outlook 2003 and install it again.
I have create a new clean .pst file and import the data of old file.
I have check that the categories transferring without a problem.
Even without categories some contacts not syncing (always the same contacts).
When create a new contact activesync syncing instantly.
When trying to copy paste one of the problematic contact the new contact not syncing.
When I modify one problematic contact typing in any field nothing change with sync issue.

The x51v OS is Windows Mobile 5 and i have already tested avtivesync 4.0 and 4.1. My desktop OS is Windows XP SP2 and I’m using the Outlook 2003 SP2. Everything other about the activesync and my ppc are perfect. This annoying problem with some contacts it goes me crazy.

I can't really help you, but I'm having the same problems. For me it syncs all the contacts except the ones that I added notes to.

same issue
I have two x51v's here, and i have the same Activesync issue you describe (but i haven't found any distinguishing characteristics common to un-synched entries).

have you found any solution yet? thanks, tom.

Nothing yet. I’m close to believe that the only way to solve this problem is the creation of new set of contacts, manual one by one! Because of deficient support from Microsoft must to typing 200-300 new contacts with axim in the cradle…

Maybe i’ll try first to export all contacts to .xls or .csv and import again to new pst. Until now I have tried to export all contacts to .pst and import again to new pst.

i will continue to try to debug this by trying to learn what distinguishes the records that don't 'synch'. i hope someone discovers a solution, as creating a new contacts file is probably out of the question for me. thanks,

i've installed the AS 4.1 upgrade, and performed a hard-reset, on a new piece of hardware, after having run MSFT's scanpst to verify that the pst file wasn't corrupted (it was not), all to no avail.

i notice that the symptoms include missing contacts, altered contacts (field mapping issues), and inability to create contacts that synch successfully.

don't really know where to turn at this point. all of the searching of activesync troubleshooting pages (and not much msft knowledgebase support) has turned up nothing.

ideas or suggestions from anyone familiar with these problems would be greatly appreciated.

Open Outlook on the pc
Open the inbox
click tools tab
click preferences
click email options
put a check mark in each box BUT the top one
on replies....do not include
on forwarding....include
NO CHECK IN BOTTOM BOX
---------------------------
click mail setup tab
click email accounts
check the view or change box
this brings up another page showing the email accounts that you have set up....it should not be blank
highlight your account and click change
look very closely...this is where most errors occur...look at every word, every period
all 6 boxes need to be filled in
leave secure authentification unchecked
now click on "test account settings"
did it pass? if so...problem solved
if not, cick the "errors" tab and tell me what it says

there are several other settings but lets stop here and see if it now works...if not, we'll look further
remember to let me know!

i read your very thoughtful post and wondered what these setting could possibly have to do with synchronizing the Contacts data within the .pst file?

would you be kind enough to explain?

Since your Contacts info in Outlook is what creates the pst files, incorrect settings could affect your outcome...just a shot!

I think I've found something .... some of the contacts that weren't syncing had pictures associated with them... I removed the pic from Outlook (PC) and then the contacts started syncing!!! I then associated the pics back in the Axim and they are now syncing all right.

Another contact had no picture, just phones and addresses and was not syncing. I exported that contact to .vcf, deleted the contact, and then imported again... it fixed the problem...

I think there must be some contact field that PPCs and PCs don't share and cause them to misbehave.

i just wanted you to know that you are not alone. same problem, same symptoms, and also, unfortunately, no solution. if you search around, you will see that many others have this issue, and all sorts of diagnostics have led to inconclusive results.
