Active Sync 4 + Syncing= Blue Screen

I just installed WM5 to my Axim 50v and then upgraded AS to 4.0.

I have the same connection problems that others have had regarding the fireall. My firewall is Kaspersky Anti-Hacker.

But I have also had problems when I turn off my firewall. This allows AS to continue, but as soon as the little popup notice saying it is retrieving settings comes up, the computer crashes. I installed AS 4.0 on my other computer and have the same crashing problem.

I upgraded 4.0 to 4.1. This did NOT solve the crashing problem. But what it did do, was allow me to connect to AS through Bluetooth. But once again, if I turn off the firewall, as soon as AS starts to actively syncronize, blue screen crash. I find this especially odd as most other people have said that it was the USB drivers causing the problems. I am assuming that a bluetooth connection does not involve USB drivers.

Connecting with Bluetooth has allowed me to put the majority of my programs back on the pda. This has been a hidden blessing of the firewall problem becasue I can establish an ActiveSync connection, and the firewall prevents the syncronization from proceeding which crashes the computer.

I tried turing off all of the syncronization options- email, claendar, etc. This did not help. It would not let me turn off the mobile favorites sectrion though.

Any suggestions for addressing the blue screen crashes?

Thanks!

Kaspersky

Hye, I got your reply to my issue in which you directed me to you post. Ironically (or maybe not) I have Kaspersky Anti-Virus running. I wonder if Kaspersky software is the culprit? Have you tried uninstalling Kaspersky? I'm going to try that when I get home. I'll let you know how it goes...

I did read somewhere that Kaspersky was problematic and Microsoft was working on it. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for that. Anyone care to speculate as to why antisync creates a network connection and at only 10mbps? Slow to sync.........

Alas, uninstalling Kaspersky did not solve my problem. Windows eror reporting says its a bad device driver. I have two computers. Both crash trying to use cable. One crashes with bluetooth (other computer doesn't have BT). The other computer will crash using IR as the connection. As soon as it starts to retrieve settings, poof.

I am also sufferring the blue crash screen as I already follow all the instruction above.....

A little more luck, I can still activesync via IR and BT, althought the BT connection can not stay alive when try to install software from my Acer notebook which is with Chinese XP.

I am tired of surfing around finding solutions for this bug. Now I always copy the CAB files of the big software via SD or CF card reader, and install it direct on X50v. For small sorftware, I just install via IR.
