I'm a newbie. I would like to know if there is a fix for the 85010014 code.I've tried everything. I have a x51v that worked find for two weeks. I going to return it and wait until after Xmas maybe then there will be a fix. I welcome any help
Axim x51v and a messed up ActiveSync 4.0 (4.1 issues the same errors).
I also get this annoying message "Syncronization could not start because you were not able to log in to the network and access information"...
Any hints are welcome (besides that "reinstall outlook" hint, done that half a dozen times now....)

Same error even formating the PC and a hard reset didnt help
Search this site for "85010014" and also on Google. This problem has do do with Outlook, not Activesync. If you have Groupwise on the same computer as Outlook you will also have problems.

i think my problem is my dataconnector for lotus notes (in outlook)
some people reported it working after they downgraded to outlook 2000, dont know why. when i upgraded my x50v to wm5, i got the same error, and the gps didnt work, so i switched back. at least i got activesync 4.1 out of the deal, oh well!

i got the error in outlook 2002 as well. unfortunatly i can't try outlook 2000 because my lotus notes data adapter will only work in 2002 and 2003
frankely i think this a problem w/ the axim cause with my windows mobile 5.0 ipaq (hx2755) never had any sync issues
I've received the same error code on my new X51v. I had Dell on the phone for over an hour and their solution was to downgrade Outlook. That's not possible for me as I sync with my company laptop for appointments, contacts, etc. My IT dept. isn't going to allow that to happen!
And who would have thought Microsoft would have issues between ActiveSync and Outlook ... both Microsoft products?!?!
Dell's getting my X51v back. Anyone who knows a place to pick up a decent X50v, let me know. Ihad decent luck with mine but it crashed hard a couple of months ago. Dell's replacement was a refurb that hard reset itself all by itself. So Dell credited me back for the 50v and I bought the 51v on good fatih. THAT didn't work!

1. Upgrade Activesync to 4.1. Go to www.windowsmobile.com.
2. Make sure Outlook is named as your PCs e-mail client. Even though you use notes, do this anyway. You can change this through your internet options in IE or in Control Panel.
3. Perform a Detect and Repair within Outlook.
Hopefully this will work for you.

activesync 4.1 installed --> check
outlook being default mail client --> check
countless detect and repairs and reinstalls --> check
i still get the 850010014 error
It will sync fin the first time. Then i have to reboot. (i.e. one sync per boot)
My windows mobile 5 iPAQ had no trouble at all in this regard.
downgrading to outside of outlook 2003 - 2002 range is a non option
Same here ... I upgraded to ActiveXync 4.1 thinking this would fix my problem based on what I'd read. I had no luck, meaning the Axim never connected and I received the same error message.
I give up! The sad thing is, Dell doesn't even offer the X50v any longer and nothing less on the X51 than Microsoft Mobile 5.0. All we need is a non-Mobile 5.0 on the new Axim and we'd all be good. :rolling:
I'm going to buy an X50v off ebay. I'll try my luck with that release again. :approve:
i was getting the same error message what i ended up doing was
reinstalling outlook 2002 i downgraded from outlook with frontpage
after installing outlook 2002. i deleted my profiles in activesync
reconnected my axim created a new profile and everything went smoothly from there
Man this is a frsutrating piece of equipment, neve had these problems with my Ipaq. FIrst I get the white screen of death, now the coed problem from hades. What next?
My solution was to return the X51v and buy a new X50v off of ebay. I'm back up and running and love it! There was no way for me to 'downgrade' Outlook due to using a corporate laptop. I'm not really losing anything going back to the X50v, just the latest Mobile 5.0, which 2003 works fine for me ... the key being able to sync!!!
