Is SD card transfer faster than Active Sync?

I've used ActiveSync to move files between by desktop/laptop and my AXIM 51v. I thought it was slow.

Would it be faster to save the files to an SD card via a card reader hooked up to the USB port.........and then put the SD card in the Axim and try to read it from there?

It seems as if that would be faster, especially for big files. I guess the speed of the SD card might matter for a big file.

Anyone have some statistics on this, besides my vague spectulations?

If you use a USB 2.0 reader, it would definitely be faster as the Axim is only USB 1.1.
