Synchranize with multiple Contacts folders
I am Dell Axim x50v owner using ActiveSync version 3.8 and am trying to find out if there is a way to have my Axim sync 2 or more different Contacts folders I have in Outlook on my computer. The issue is I have a huge contacts folder that is main sync, but I also have a smaller contacts folder that contains numbers I have on my Nokia 6230 that I have synced with my computer.
The tools option in ActiveSync seems to allow only the main contacts folder to be synced with the Axim. Is there away around this? Thank you in advance for your assistance. | |||

There are always work-arounds. If you are going to use Outlook and the software on the Ax, use the Categories feature in Outlook. Add a Category to your Nokia numbers, called, um, uh, "Nokia" or something clever like that and move them into the main folder. You can always filter and/or sort by category in both Outlook and on the Ax. I currently have 907 contacts and 13 categories and have no problems dealing with them.

Try this download from Microsoft which works for me. I have business contacts, employee contacts and personal contacts in 3 separate folders. This Pocket Contact Synchronizer does the job of rolling them into one file for your device.

The problem with the Outlook PCS program is that if you modify contacts on your ppc they all not modified into your custom folder on the pc. I liked the feature until I discovered this major flaw. There are some add on programs that will do the job. I have not used any. I now use the category method. The category method fails if you are using custom forms. Custom fields do not sync. There are add on programs for this too. I am not recalling names of the add on programs but do a google on the key words and you will find some. My solution has been to stop using Outlook for custom forms and use Access with Sprint DB Pro for my more complex client data base needs (tracking services and billing). Sprint DB Pro does not work on WM5 yet. I do not think the database issues have been fully worked out with WM5
