Hi all,

I just got my first PDA this week: an X5v WM5.

I have played with it a bit and now just installed Active Sync 4.0 from the Dell supllied CD on my work laptop (Dell Latitude D600).

The setup went Ok except is seems to take forever to "retrieving settings" box. Each time I gave up (~5minutes) and turn off my Axim to stop the process.

My laptop runs XP but does not have Outlook installed. According to our IS dept, Outlook does not live well at all with the cie official Groupewise E-mail system we use. So they do not installed Outlook on cie's computer.

Now, I do not care as I just want to share files and use active sink to download programs to my Axim. As soon as I install my Axim in its cradle (via USB port of course), it starts to synchronize something showing the "Retrieving Settings" windows.

Question is: is this normal and should I wait longer to see what happens.

There are some people on this forum having problems with ActiveSync.
Give the latest version (4.1) a try.
It is supposed to fix many problems.
