This is too strange. After upgrading my Axim X50v to WM5 and AS 4.0 (and then 4.1) and almost two weeks of trawling many forums and trying everything (including all of Microsoft's suggestions, turning off my Zone Alarm firewall, "allowing" the ports suggest on the MS AS site, plus numerous other suggestions I found on this and other forums) to no avail -- I happened to upgrade my Webroot Spy Sweeper last night and miraculously I was able to synch for the first time with my Firewall on and all other apps active. So, I am completely puzzled, but I feel fortunate that the AS gods were looking down on me.
