Can't Sync Notes - Fix

About a week ago, I started getting Notes synchronzation errors, with a message: "Cannot synchronize '<note subject>'. It may be in use or you may not have enough device memory." This was on my X5 with PPC2002, whereas my X51V with WM5 sync'd fine.

My solution was to connect the PPC, let it sync to the extent possible, then browse the device with Windows Explorer and rename the My Documents sub-folders that contain notes to Business-BAK, Personal-BAK, and Alarm Notes-BAK. The system immediately recreated the folders with their original name, then sync'd them. All my notes appeared in the new folders and are up-to-date. I then deleted the renamed (*-BAK) folders.

This was important to solve because I may be sending the X51V back for a refund tomorrow--the last day that I can do so.

Cheers,
Larry

Awk! Just checked my X5 after deleting the backup folders and the notes are all gone! Also from Outlook. So much for my fix. Good thing I have them all on the X51V. I'll post an update after I wrestle this thing to the ground.

Phew! I've restored my notes on the X5 and in Outlook. I guess what I should have done, is export the Notes from Outlook into a backup PST file, deleted the notes from the X5 and in Outlook, sync'd, then imported Notes in Outlook from the backup PST, then sync'd again.

Scary stuff, but it sure shows the value of keeping backups. And at least my problem is fixed.
