Scheduled syncing possible???????

I am tired of my axim syncing every few minutes. Anyway to schedule it? I can not believe this is the way it is to be.

Version 4.1 with a USB cradle is what I am using.

I'm running AS 3.8 with my WM2003 X30. It syncs automatically any time there is a change in calendar, email etc. on my desktop PC. Check the ActiveSync settings on your Ax to make sure the you haven't turned something off.

I have WM5 and AS 4.1. To the best of my knowledge there is no place to make this change when syncing via USB cable

I checked in ActiveSync on my desktop machine (this is v3.8 as noted): Toos, Options, Schedule. Choices are "Continously", "On Connection", and "Manually". It's set to Continuous. If yours has the same settings, and it is already set to Continuous, change it to something else, save the settings, and put it back. Otherwise, well, set it to Continuous.

AS 4.0 and 4.1 do not allow one to turn off continuous synching. The "Schedule" options are grayed out. I was hoping for a fix to this in 4.1 myself.

Myself looking for the same issue.
It keeps bleeping (an turning on by itself) every 5 minutes.

Where do we assign which device has priority like using Hotsyn from Palm? At least with Palm Hot sync you can say to syn device -> desktop or desktop -> device or desktop <-> device. You can control which agenda has precedence. If you delete a file on your device but not in the sync folder (desktop), what happens?

I have loaded AS 4.1 on my home desktop (where my craddle is connected) and that thing keeps syncing

Thanks

All you need to do to prevent activesync from automatically turning on your axim is:

If you just want to charge the axim:
1. insert axim in cradle
2. quickly turn off axim before activesync connects.

If you waited for activesync to connect and then turn the PPC off, it will turn on again after a few min.

If you want activesync to stay off after you have finished syncing:

1. Turn off axim while in cradle
2. Turn on axim and quickly turn it off again before activesync connects.

Please give me some feedback

Hi! I am new here but I no noob. I have been tweaking my x50v since I got it a year ago. Bless all of us early adopters, we are the ones who make technology adavnce.

It took some searching, but I finally found the info to prevent continuous syncing with X50v/WM5/ActiveSync4.1. I found the answer here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...rysettings.asp

The change is made in the desktop registry.

All ActiveSync Manager registry values are under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\DeviceID\Services\Synchronizatio n subkey on the desktop computer.

The change to make is here:
Continuously Update : REG_DWORD Default setting is 0. This value specifies whether synchronization is started automatically or manually when data changes.
0: Synchronization is started manually.
1: Synchronization starts automatically when data changes.

Constant syncing was driving me nuts. Now I decide when to sync. Too bad M$ won't change this to a timed setting so I can decide how often it will sync.

I still love my Axim x50v  but I hope M$ fixes the WiFi sync problem becuase I really need it and miss it.

This fix helped my battery life but my x51v still syncs every 5 minutes. :(
