ActiveStink issues and X51v
Well, after a happy week with my new X51v, I started the Active Stink installation on my home and work PC. Everything ran smoothly until last weekend.
My Axim is HWA00, ROM A01, WM5
My Home PC is Dell 8100 running W2K SP4
My work Pc is Dell Latitude D600 running XP SP1.
I started using the supplied ActiveSync 4.0 from the Dell CD on my work PC using my Dell Cradle. Since, we do not use Outlook at work but rather GroupeWise, I was only synchonizing a file folder. I had to close Sygate Firewall for the thing to connect.
At home, I decided to install ActiveStink 4.1 from the Microsoft download page. I had closed my Norton Internet Security and everything went smooth. I could sync my Axim and could see my 2 partnerships (work and Home). At Home I was synching task, contact and folder file since I am using Outlook at home.
Everything coexisted for 2-3 days without any issue except the automatic 5 minutes sync when my Axim was on the cradle.
Then for no known reason, my home active sync window (AS4.1) was opening with its top half portion outside my window screen :exc:
I reboot the PC, soft reset the Axim (no hard reset yet). Uninstall the AS4.1 on my PC, install it again without luck because I still had the top 1/2 AS window outside my screen. I did a repair of AS with no luck; remove AS again, install AS4.0 and still the top 1/2 off my screen.
By the way I can no longer sync at work either :realmad: :realmad:.
I suspect that a file somewhere (or a registry) under the window thick cover is dictating where on the screen an application window is located on the screen (usually the center of the apps window is in the center of the screen). And that file never got undated despite the many uninstall and repair and re-install procedures. These thing used to be in a .ini file but under W2k is probably a .dll file or something.
Any help or hint about how to proceed.
P.S. I can sync on my home PC but I do this without seeing what is happening.
Thanks for any help that comes through
