85010014 solution for Axim X51V

Through a lot of searching, found the following link that described a method of getting rid of the 85010014 error with Outlook and ActiveSync and there was no un-installing and re-installing!! Did a lot of installing before finding it... :-(

http://www.sb.com.au/jasjar/activesync_4_0.html

Scroll down the page until you find:

"1st October: I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014!"

ok just a few more things---

will i lose my folders that i have created (offline)?
will i need to restablish my connection settings for outlook?

the more i think about this, the more concerned i get since this is after all a work laptop and they would NOT be happy if i was tinkering with this sort of thing???

any ideas?

I applaud the effort as a hack and last resort effort, but this is a horrible solution...

My situation was a bit different...I have Office 97, but with Outlook 2002 as provided with the Dell Axim. In Control Panel Outlook 2002 was listed separately, and I found that a Repair installation also got rid of the 85010014 error (at least for now).

so far, none of these suggestion has worked for me. starting to think it has something to do with using outlook 2003 at work (which works fine) and 2002 at home, which gives me the error.

hey big dave--

not sure about your issue, but i can tell you that i was using outlook 2k3 on both machines and still getting the error code.

what worked for me was deleting the partnership, installing version 4.1, restarting my laptop, and re-establishing the connection. so far so good (knocking on wood).

it seems there are a host of "fixes" for this error message, which leads me to believe that there is something else underlying here.

oh well--i can hope for the best. this darn axim is easily the most bugg ridden thing i have ever seen.
