Activesync connecting and Norton 2006
I had activesync 4.1 working with Mcafee but have now changed to Norton INternet Security 2006 and it gets stopped at the "connecting" stage. I tried the Microsoft workaround guide (basically permitting the activesync programs) but it still will not connect.
If I disable the firewall it will connect so it is definitely being stopped by Norton. Does anyone know how to solve this ??? I've looked in all the forums and cannot find a solution. I do not want to have to disable the firewall everytime Thanks for your help in advance

I have not had problems with NIS 2005. I did configure a trusted zone for my local network. I just went to Run / CMD / IPCONFIG to get my existing IP address. THen I went to NIS / Personal Firewall / Network and added a trusted range for the entire zone (x.x.x.1 - x.x.x.254).
You might also look at the programs tab. ActiveSynch is listed as "Automatic" on mine.

I found that it was Internet Worm Protection within Norton Antivirus 2006 that was causing my connection problems (Activesync 4.1 WM5 A04) - I just go into Norton and turn this off, place the Axim X51V in the cradle and it makes a connection (which makes me feel good when things work properly).
I have written Norton to ask them what a more permanent fix or how to properly change the settings so that I don't have to manually make the change to Internet Worm Protection each time I want to sync. Hope that helps.
