activesync 4.1 problems - dropped net connection and beeping

With Activesync4.1 whenever my PDA syncs the machine drops its wireless connection. This is entirely unacceptable.

With all sounds switched off in the Windows XP control panel I stell get the 'default beep' every few minutes.

Even if I uncheck the sync when you see the PDA checkbox and switch off the PDA (well, the low power mode, not full off) it still wakes the PDA every few minutes and beeps happily to itself and drops my wireless connection.

I can't have this sort of behavior, so I uninstalled Activesync and I have no more problems.

I haven't lost much, it wouldn't sync to Outlook because it said it couldn't see an Outlook server where Outlook told me it is and it has never managed to sync the contacts and all that crud.

We run an IBM managed and fully updated Windows XP SP2 on IBM T42P laptops. We use the cruddy MS exchange server (how am I supposed to know the last names of fifty Indian and Chinese people I only ever call by the first name anyway) and everything works well enough. I add another bit of entirely standard MS software to it and it doesn't work. It kills my network, it won't sync, it doesn't do what its controls say.

I am not impressed. As a twenty year embedded software professional I'd say this is ready for alpha testing.
