Restoration or Synch first???

I lost my pocket pc a couple of weeks ago and have just replaced it with another X30. This morning I plan to synch it and do a resoration (using the backup function in Active Synch) to get all of the data and software back onto the device. My question is:

Should I do a new synch or a restoration first?

The restoration would get all of the additional software onto the pc and have data (appts., new addresses, etc.) as of 2 weeks ago when I did my last backup. A synch would get all of the data from the past two weeks on. If I do the restoration first, will the synch pick up the stuff that's been entered over the past 2 weeks. If I do the synch first and then the restoration, will it "wipe out" the newer data?
thanks
Gerry

Depends on your ActiveSync settings. Check the rules tab in ActiveSync and you'll see how to set it up to do what you need.

Definitely agree check your sync rules. However, I would recommend restoring first. This way activesync thinks the new axim is the old one - name and all. If ther are problems then you only have two weeks to deal with.

Depending on how many or how often you change your contacts, you might consider just using the backup or if you have the option, not restoring them and transferring all your pc contacts in a separate sync.

Good luck, and hope you are up and running soon.
