Question about ActiveSync 4.0 and WM2003 SE...

I read somewhere that users of WM2003 are not supposed to use any version of ActiveSync newer than 3.8. But I was having major issues with 3.8 - until I tried version 4.0, and now everything works!

Should I be worried? Are there others users of WM2003 or WM2003 SE that use ActiveSync version 4.0 without any problems?

I just want to set my mind at ease, since I'm transferring a lot of data on a daily basis from my Axim x30h to my PC.

Thanks in advance...!

I actually loaded AS4.1 from the MS download and used it with WM2003. I don't think there's an issue.

Should be no problem. :approve:

I use Version 4.0.0 Build 4343 and it works perfectly both with my X50v which has WM 2003 SE and also with my old X5 which still has WM 2002 A04.

Exclamation

I think wireless access is disabled by default on v4.x for "security".
Don't know if it can be re-enabled.

I'm still using 3.7.1 and just noticed I CAN'T ENABLE wireless !
If I go to file\connections ............. nothing happens.
No popup, no error.
Is there a reg setting I need to enable ?

If you have loaded AS 4.x and went back to AS 3.x some trash from 4.x may still be on your PPC preventing you from wireless syncing. A little searching will provide details on how clean all of AS 4.x out.

I ended up upgrading to AS 4.0 when I upgraded my X50v to WM 5.0. I eventually rolled back my X50v to WM 2003SE, but I left AS 4.0 on there and it's been working fine. In fact, AS 4.0 works better w/ my X50v using WM 2003SE. It was way more unstable w/ WM 5.0. And I thought all the probs were in AS 4.0. It looks like not only AS, but the PDA determines how well the combination runs.

No 3.7.1 is what came with the X50 and haven't tried another version yet.
