activesync won't connect
downloaded activesync 4.1...when axim X51v (two days old) placed into cradle...computer pings and pongs...task bar say 'new hardware axim X51v'...and nothing else happens...
i open activesync and it says 'no connection'...and it will not connect
after trying all sorts of things with dell support in 8 hours...they suggest it is a cradle/wire problem...if it was, then the computer would not respond when i put axim into cradle...
is problem pda or activeync?

Have you tried this?: take your X51v off its cradle, power it off, turn off your firewall (ZoneAlarm, Norton, Windows Firewall via Security Center etc.), activate AS then place your X51v on the cradle then turn Axim on.

yes...i have turned off all firewalls i can locate...
the computer does make a sound when i place my pda in cradle...that is why i doubt it is a cradle problem...
most of the items on activesync are greyed out...so i cannont make any adjustments to activesync
i had toshiba...and ipac 2215...never had problem with activesync...
i have had no problem with X51v wireless connection where-ever i am...
if it would sync with my conputer, this would be an incredible pda...

One thing that I found in order to pinpoint the problem was to uncheck all sync options (in active sync window - tools, options). And then one by one add the calendar then sync. Add the contacts then sync, etc. There could be a conflict with one of the options. Mine was with favorites. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to sync, especially when in a hurry.

I'm having the same problem right now. Can't get the X51v to connect to my Toshiba laptop but it works fine with my desktop. I have both the cradle and Dell travel USB cable. I've tried everything. It seems related to my Laptop somehow. I tried turning off the Windows firewall, tried uninstalling everything and reinstalled (both AS 4.0 & 4.1), cleared the registry, did a "repair" ActiveSync, plugged, unplugged, turned off, turned on, etc... and still it doesn't want to connect. With my desktop, it worked on the first try (with AS 4.0 even, didn't even bother turning off firewalls or anything!?)

Are you running Norton on your computer? If so disable it and try again. I had a similar porblem with my Axim X51. It connects, syncs, etc as long as norton is not running.
Hope this helps.

I had this problem too, a couple of times. Here is what I did and its worked so far. I uninstalled Activesync. rebooted computer, downloaded activesync 4.1 again and docked the axim. Ive had to so this a couple of times, its a pain but it workes. Talked to Dell about this and they said they are working on a fix with activesync.
Hope this workes for ya.
Happy New year
