ActiveSync is the biggest piece of shite ever!

OK, I know we've all heard enough about everyone's ActiveSync woes, but if I had a dollar for everytime I did the old "Delete Partnership" routine I'd be closing in on becoming a millionaire. Let's face it, this software is so bad that I nearly cringe each time I put my X50v into the cradle to sync up. Yes, everything goes along well enough for a few days, but just as sure as the sun will rise every morning I know that the day of the "Guest" partnership is always lurking just around the bend. I'm not sure what minor pattern I must change in my daily usage of the unit to upset ActiveSync's carefully planned routine, but if you so much as fart anywhere nearby it will mess up on you.

I have WM2003SE with A05 on my X50v, so I'm updated as much as I can be prior to going WM5 (which I'm in no hurry to do given the many cans of worms that dandy bit of workmanship has unleashed onto the PDA public).

Do I sound a bit bitter? You bet, you see there's just so many times I can handle going through this complete waste of my time. Don't get me wrong, these Axims are awesome pieces of engineering, and most of the software created for the PPC is excellent, but AximSync truly stinks to the high heavens (I have 3.8 but 3.7 was the same).

So many people with the all the same problems can't be wrong. I wish there was an easier way. Now back to the old partnershite routine...

Sorry you are having so many problems. I have the same setup as you and use AS 4.1 and haven't had any sync or Guest problems. I didn't with Ver 3.8 either.

If I were you, I would uninstall Activesync, use your registry editor and search for any mention of Activesync and delete those lines. I would erase any folders under windows and programs that say activesync and then do a clean install with 3.8. I think you will be happier.

Let us know if this works or not.

Pff that isnt crap....

Ive gone over a solid YEAR without being able to sync at all. I cant so much as copy a single program over to it. Basically my Axim has been reduced to a door stopper that lights up.

Ive uninstalled, reinstalled, tried different computers, hard-reset several times etc etc. NOTHING. It acts like its going to connect then tells me its an incompatible versoin. This is regardless of what version of ActiveSync is install.

PLEASE GOD, SOMEONE KNOWLEDGABLE HELP ME TO GET THIS THING WORKING AGAIN!

forget activeSINK =) buy and install cardexport from softick, and connect your pda to pc as an usb flash disk. copy whatever you like. treat your pocket pc as a stadalone computer, and you'll be a happier person.

p.s. i don't use activesync (cardexport!). i don't use outlook -- neither on pocket pc (qmail 3!) nor on pc (the bat! or qmail 3 for pc). i don't use ms office (openoffice!). i do use my brain and i use my pocketpc wherever i'm not at work for every task i might want done on pc except very few (like graphics design). you know, i'm happy =)

Here's a few thoughts:
Yep, activesync is terrible, but try this:
One thing that I found in order to pinpoint the problem was to uncheck all sync options (in active sync window - tools, options). And then one by one add the calendar then sync. Add the contacts then sync, etc. There could be a conflict with one of the options. Mine was with favorites. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to sync, especially when in a hurry.
Also, so much of Activesync depends os settings in Outlook, they may need to be checked:

Open Outlook on the pc
Open the inbox
click tools tab
click preferences
click email options
put a check mark in each box BUT the top one
on replies....do not include
on forwarding....include
NO CHECK IN BOTTOM BOX
---------------------------
click mail setup tab
click email accounts
check the view or change box
this brings up another page showing the email accounts that you have set up....it should not be blank
highlight your account and click change
look very closely...this is where most errors occur...look at every word, every period
all 6 boxes need to be filled in
leave secure authentification unchecked
now click on "test account settings"
did it pass? if so...problem solved
if not, cick the "errors" tab and tell me what it says

there are several other settings but lets stop here and see if it now works...if not, we'll look further
remember to let me know!

I haven't been able to synch anything since March 05

Is there another software option?
Active Sync and Intellisync both suck.
