is it possible to downgrade from activesync 4.1 to active sync 3.8? i upgraded to 4.1 before i saw the little warning from ms that you shouldn't if you have wm2003 (which i have). i tried uninstalling 4.1 and then installing 3.8 but it doesn't work. i need my wifi sync back......

I had problems downgrading AS with VPC on my mac. I kept getting a "...newer version of AS already installed" message so I ended up doing a system restore after many hours of pain.

worked great (except for network syncing). now to just decide if i want to build a laptop or upgrade to an axim x51v

Just keep in mind that the x51v requires AS 4.0/4.1

I've tried every piece of advice I can find, but am unable to downgrade my AS 4.1 to AS 3.8 in order to enable wi-fi sync to my Axim 50v.

I uninstalled AS 4.1, deleted the c:\program files\Microsoft activesyn directory, and the the three dll's in the system32 directory, and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\NoteSync Forms.
I still get the "more recent version found" error message upon an AS 3.8 installation attempt, and it does not allow activesync to install.

I just want my wi-fi sync. ANy ideas?

3No idea, man. Are you rebooting in-between attempts? Have you tried AS 3.7? Have you checked the installation logs?

Try installing 4.X, reboot, then uninstall it, reboot, then delete those files, reboot, and try AS 3.7. If that works, try to upgrade from 3.7 to 3.8.

If that doesn't work, sorry man... I've got no clue.

i agree with him, many times, when i go installing multiple programs, i have to reboot, or it wont work, like with i was upgrading Symantec Norton Systemworks 2006, i wanted to get rid of GoBack, and reconfiguring it didnt work, so i tried to remove and reinstall. Took the short way and didnt reboot, didnt work.
