I've an IBM T43 that's my main workstation. Most times when I connect the Axim to the USB cable, the PDA just lays there and the screen flashes from normal to full brightness, though not to any steady rhythm. The laptop shows no signs that the device is even connected. Sometimes everything seems to work just fine and on some occasions the connection will be successful and then it will disconnect and nothing at all will make it work again.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

The device is an Axim X51v running WM5 A01. I have ActiveSync 4.1 running on the PC. The firewall software (ISS) and also the WinXP firewall are both disabled (unless I'm on a strange network, mind you).

I am facing the same problem too. I am using a T30. I sync with my home PC flawlessly. But when I sync with my thinkpad at work, it occasionally syncs. The rest of the time, when I want it to sync, I have to delete the relationship and do the whole set up thing again.

I've taken similiar steps as you to disable my firewall for activesync etc. But still getting the same crappy results.
