Help! Can I undo a sync?

Hmmm, thought not :-(

I have a friend's x5 which he used to use on a work pc, but hasn't synched for months. I was trying to set up a new sync with outlook on a laptop and home pc for him.

But... ooops! I have lost data because the x5 synced the wrong direction and loaded a handful of calendar events from an old outlook profile on my laptop - instead of transferring hundreds of events to a new default profile i had set up for the purpose of receiving them.

I know this sounds dumb - but can i undo the sync in any way, shape or form?

I can see the appointments database when i explore the X5 via ActiveSync - it says it is 3.99GB! defintely more data in there than the few items the calendar now shows...

Help!!!!

Did you make a backup before you connected with active sync. If so restore the old backup.

I only discovered the backup option after ActiveSync had synced (well, I had *let* it sync, I admit!) the wrong data...

Perhaps I can rephrase this question:

Is old data completely overwritten when synching takes place?

Is any of the old data recoverable in any way from the database on the Axim?

Sorry for being dumb - ActiveSync took me by surprise to be honest, I usually am careful but it didn't appear to give any warning that it was about to overwrite data on the PDA.

I dont believe so. I believe that it over writes itself everytime you sync. Sorry.

Ah well... I kind of thought that. Cheers anyway guys.

At least i can go back to my friend's work pc some time and sync again with that, though it's a little out of date most of what he needs will still be there... I will be careful to make sure activesync does what i want it to (ie synchs in the direction I want it to! - it seems a bit fierce, doesn't it :-| ) and will make sure to do backups as i go from now on.

Best wishes from malky :-)
