activesynch no connection: dialup/proxy
I am having a problem with activesynch and need help. It was working properly and now no longer works as the computer does not recognize that it is connected to the pocket pc and the pocket pc no longer recognizes that it is connected to the lap top. The error message is: Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again.
I use a dell lap top Inspiron 6000 with windows xp, dell axim x50p and a blackberry 7100t cell phone. The dell axim synchronizes tasks, contacts etc with microsoft outlook and the blackberry 7100t also synchronizes with microsoft outlook. The blackberry 7100t is working properly with its autosynch with microsoft outlook. The Dell Axim activesynch is no longer working.
Normally whenever I put the dell axim x50v in the cradel it automatically synchronizes. Now when i use the axim and click on start, then activesynch it indicates that it has not connected. It gives me the option to click on sync. And under this it has synchronize with windows pc errors 1/7/06 6:20 pm. When I click on errors it produces: Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again. No change occurs when I click on sync.
When I goto my lap top and open microsoft activesynch it indicates not connected, PC last synchronized 1/7/2006 1:02 am.
I click on file then get , set up then searches for the moblie device and my device is not detected.
Before this problem occured I had moved several files to my lap top for safe keeping. I check them for spelling and replaced the files on my axim. I had gone into connections and turned on wifi which i had not been using and i turned on blue tooth which i had not been using. I did not have the instruciton manual available and was doing this by trial and error. So maybe this is where the problem occured.
I use the usb ports for connecting the cradel of the dell axim to the lap top or I connect the axim directly to the computer without the cradle using a usb cabel. These are the same usb ports and cables that I use with the blackberry. So it's not the usb ports or cables as the blackberry works properly with its autosynch software and hardware connections via the cables and ports.
What do I do to correct this activesynch problem. What do dial up and proxy settings have to do with a USB connection? I have rebooted my lap to computer, have used the reset button on the dell axim. I have been using the mcafee firewall and mcafee antivirus provided by aol which are all up to date. The activesynch has been working fine for 6 months and now is no longer working. How do I fix this problem so that the dell axim x50v will communicate with the lap top and activesynch calendar, contacts, tasks etc. Thank you.
