ActiveSync 3.8 pass-thru for Internet access

Hi All,
I have searched in this forum but unable to find the answer. I have an X50v with W2003SE and using MS ActiveSync 3.8.

I would like to ask what are the settings required for MS Active Sync and also for the X50v (if any) to allow the Internet pass-thru. Should there be any difference in settings if I were directly connected to the internet or connected to the office network ? I don't have internet pass-thru for both situations.

Thank you.

Regards,
Fairis.

In ActiveSync's Connection Settings, change This computer is connected to: to be The Internet.

Thanks. I've tried that but still got the error message "The page you are looking for cannot be found". Is there any specific settings required for the Axim ?

Not that I can think of.
As long as you are connected through ActiveSync and you have that setting set to The Internet, it should pass your internet connection on to the PPC.

FYI, I'm using Win XP SP1. So far I can't figure out what is wrong ? Anyway, thanks for the help and I'll keep tweaking. Last resort would be HARD RESET.

Try Start->Settings->Connections->Connections. Goto whatever that second tab is and press network card. Try changing your activesync "passthrough" to whatever is shown in that dropdown box.

EDIT: This is how I get it to work with my X5. Not sure if it's still current, sorry.

Hi,
tried that as well but not quite working. However, one thing I realized is that the Internet pass-thru doesn't work when I am on the office network but it is alright when I'm directly connected to the Internet.

Wondering if its caused by the firewall or something...

When PC connected to office network, with Netfront on ActiveSync internet pass-thru, I got the error message No DNS server found
