X50v/WM5 connects to ActiveSync, but cannot sync

I'm not sure if it's related, but this problem started after I attemtped to solve the X50v/WM5 ActiveSync battery drain problem. As instructed on this forum I created a dummy server, then changed the sync frequency, then deleted the server relationship.

After that, when I put the X50v in its cradle, it connects and asks for my password as normal, but then a very generic 'cannot sync' message appears. I have tried deleting all relationships, removing and reinstalling AS4, and installing AS4.1, but with no luck.

Has anyone else had this problem? I really don't want to have to do [I]another[I] hard reset.

Lastly - who should be higher on my hate list? Dell or Microsoft?

Hmm same problem and I have done a hard reset. I start to sync and the PPC just freezes. No sync.

ActiveSync

I can get mine to Sync. But I first have to disable Norton Internet Security. I found some troubleshooting instructions on the Microsoft ActiveSync page for 4.1. However, it still didn't allow it to sync. I can only Sync on my Windows computer at work if I reboot. Then it will sync. But not if I connect the unit after the PC boots. It sucks all around. No problems with 3.7 or 3.8 using 2003 SE. But now with 4.x and WM 5, it is filled with issues. I think this is because Microsoft has switched to TCP/IP for communications.

Well, I think it was something on the Axim's end. A hard reset solved the problem. Strange thing is the 'sync-server-syc-timging' trick that stopped syncing working first time around worked fine after the reset. I've since spent a good few hours setting the Axim up just how I want it, and installing a lot of software. For the first time since the WM5 upgrade, I think I'm happy with it. No crashes and no crazy battery drain.
