you need to go to windows media player and on the sync tab create a new partnership

I got my x51v a week ago. The first problem was losing my CF card overnight or after several hours. But thanks to A06 (the fake server fix) thats fine now. However, I also get the message "setup must be completed" whenever I try to sync Media.

Contacts,Calendar,Email & Tasks all sync but the message is underlined in blue alongside Media icon and when I click on the message, the Media Synchronisation window appears asking if I want to "Set up a partnership". When I click 'Yes' Windows Media Player opens but says "No device has been detected" and the both the Start syn & Setup sync icons are greyed out.

I'm really frustrated now - can anyone advise where the problem lies and how to rectify it? Should I uninstall AS & WMP and then reinstall them?

Worried

Your last line was correct. By uninstalling WMP 10 on your pc and AS 4.1(reboot each time) and then going back and reinstalling, you will get everything back onto the same page. Also make sure you back-up your licenses in WMP10.(under tools/manage licenses)

It gets frustrating at times but it is worth it once you get the kinks worked out;)

I'm having the same problem

I'm having the same problem. Looks like I'll be doing the reinstalls as well. If it works it will be well worth it. Its annoying though... but then again it gives me something to tweek.:approve:

I had the same "setup must be completed" message that never disappeared.
Configuration: Windows Media Player 11 final and ActiveSync 4.2

My conclusion: The synchronization via ActiveSync 4.X only works with automatic synchronization (play lists). Manual selection of the albums or songs does not work!

Create a play list in Windows Media Player. After that select the sync options of your device in the sync tab of the player. In the device settings activate the automatic synchronization and select only your new play list.

After that the synchronization with ActiveSync should work.

Multiple partnerships needed

I think you have to setup the parternship for each device. For example My Axim x51v has an SD card. I sync all media to it. This counts as two partnerships, one for the Axim itself and another for the SD card. I only enable automatic sync on the SD card. Since I don't enable automatic sync on the Axim itself the setup message displays. My SD card however still syncs even though the setup message is displayed.
