Why Do I Have To Soft Reset Before Every Sync?

Hopefully someone can help me with this because it's getting real annoying. I'm using Activesync 4.1 with my x51v A06. When I dock my axim, nothing happens. However, if I soft reset it before docking it, activesync works fine. I sync several times a day and I'm getting tired of soft resetting every time. Does anyone know what the problem would be? I can't stand activesync. What a slow piece of garbage!!

You need to really turn off Activesync on your device after you sync. Try a task switcher.

I do turn it off. I've tried everything. I can sync once but when I want to do another one later, I always have to do a soft reset before or else nothing happens when I connect it to the cradle. I can't figure out why.

You clicked on Start > Settings > System > Memory, hit the Running Programs tab, highlighted Activesync and chose Stop and nothing happened? Try tapping on Stop all instead then sync.

No, I mean when I try to connect my axim to the cradle, nothing will happen until I soft reset. I am positive activesync is closed. I do exactly what you describe above. I can't figure it out. I'm searching all over the internet for a solution.

Here's an example of my problem:
I soft reset, put my axim in the cradle, and everything syncs fine.
I take my axim off the cradle, shut down activesync on it, and let my axim sit around for a few minutes.
I then put it back in the cradle to sync again and nothing happens. I have to soft reset again. It's really starting to make me angry now.

Let's hope I don't get too mad and throw my axim agains the wall. I'd be bumming then.

Thanks for your help Don't Panic.

Just checking. ;) My WM5 device is not an Ax, (wish it was :)), and I seldom use it.

do you plug your cradle directly into usb port on the computer or through a usb hub? If you plug it in thru a hub, try plugging it directly into the usb port. That might do the trick.

That didnt work myrcgarage. I have narrowed it down to be some kind of power issue though. If I keep my axim on, it will sync every time. Once I turn it off though and then back on, I have to soft reset to sync. Any suggestions anyone?

how much stuff do you have on your axim? If it is not too much, I would suggest a hard reset and see if it is still the same. I would think some software that you installed screwed something up.

and are you turning the x51 fully off or is it going into sleep mode? I don't have the x51 but i would think that if you are using the full power off mode then it would take a while to wake up everyting to get AS to work.

i have the same problem, except i don't do a soft reset, i uninstall, and reinstall activesynth. i sucks big time! i've been told by Dell that it's a firewall issue. if you have all your firewalls off, it's a conflict of programs, at least that's what Dell told me on the phone.

Windows XP SP2, Axim x50v 2003SE, ActivSync 3.8 no firewall except windows default, avast antivirus.

Exactly the same problem sync once than have to soft reset to be able to sync again have been searching the Net for two days can’t find a solution or a reason except that it worked fine on my AMD desktop the problem occurs on my Dell 9100 laptop.
