Backup programs for OS reinstallation?

I am at the point where I need to hard reset my operating system.. due to file associations dissappearing and some executables gone missing.. and I think I have a slight virus.. would anybody know a way to backup the programs I have installed on my pc so that I may just restore them after an operating system fresh install..

its Winxp with a Activesync 4.1.. I have a number of proggies installed.. a very long list..

all the programs are installed on my Axim X50v but the only reason I want to backup the programs installed on my comp are so that if I need to hard reset my axim in the future I will have the programs ready to reinstall without having to dig up all the install files from sites again.. most of them I have lost paid for serials for including my copy of SPB.. I own all of the SPB software.. anyways.. any help is appreciated..

You shouldn't have to worry about that... in the options menu (I think) in activesync, there's the add/remove programs button. Those are the applicaitons (the ones not grey'd out) that Activesync is aware of and can re-install for you.

It's more of a re-install instead of a restore, but unless you have some kind of backup application (like sprite) then that's I think the best you can get.

the pda has a program built in called databackup and it works very well. Sprite has a lot of extras that make it worth the money in my opinion but this works fine for most people. Just copy the file that it creates over to your PC when it is done as it won't do that for you (Sprite will) and then move it back when you want to restore. Doing the install from the AS won't keep licenses as far as I know, you would have to input them again just like when you installed it the first time.
