Worried syncing problem

Can someone help me? I've got an X50 with the WME 2003 2nd edition. Purchased in July 05. It worked fine for about 4 months or so. When I get the AXIM connected through my USB it says "Looking for Changes". It will does this for hours on end. Yesterday, I let it run overnight. Came in this morning and still running. I do run an ACT Database to my AXIM and had made several changes within it and the ACT LINK is set to overwrite the existing database on the AXIM, but come on? I've been unable to get completed sync now for about 2 months. I upgraded ACTIVE SYNCE to 4.1 on my desktop, but still the same problem is existing. I've never done a SOFT RESET or a HARD RESET of the AXIM. Is this necessary and how is that accomplished?

ThAnks

well, you definately want to try a soft reset. take the stylis and on the back there is a little hole. poke the stylis in there and you will see it reset on the screen. If you haven't ever done a backup, do it now. use the databackup software on the PDA and copy the backup file that it creates to your pc. if the soft reset doesn't work and you have to do a hard reset you might be able to do the restore of that old data and have it work again. the best use of the backup software it to create a backup prior to installing new software. Soft resets are pretty common and clear a lot of problems. you can and should always try that before anything else. once or twice a week is pretty normal if you make a lot of changes to your system.

You should also make sure you have the latest ROM update, then you should probably Downgrade activesync to 3.8. To do this you'll need to do a search on this site for the instructions as it requires some extra work, but it's not that hard.
