Calendar, todo list, missing on lotus notes.

Hey guys. I just wanted to try lotus notes as an alternative to outlook, so I installed it, and now the only thing I can use is contacts. I can't anything else to work! It says can not find file when I click on anything that links to that. Do I need a lotus/domino server? Can someone help educate me on what exactly lotus notes is for?

that's not the problem, I already have mnotes installed. I am asking a question specific to lotus notes, but I decided against using it, so nevermind.
