No MS Exchange server detected

Hi, first post. Please pardon any faux pas.

I got an Axim 412Mhz last week, and I cannot seem to get anywhere syncing my email account.

I run Exchange 2003 Sp1 server, and outlook 2003 connected "live" at the office, and "cached mode" through VPN at home. I am the administrator of this server.

I cannot get any kind of connection to the server. I've tried several different accounts to connect, and the host name and IP address of this server. I just get the error message "NO MS Exchange server was detected.. " when of course, there is one right there. I've also seen the error message "Cannot connect with current connection settings Support Code 85020006". Not helpful.

Secondly, I do not seem to have any form of outlook installed on the Axim. Shouldn't I have "pocket outlook" just like pocket word? When i run the installation program, there are 2 choices for "add new programs" activesync and Outlook, but the Outlook button is greyed out!

Another strange thing that maybe is not related is that when I have the pda plugged into the USB port, something will turn the machine on every few minutes! This has drained the batery several times on me. Now, when I'm using it, it will happily dimm the screen on me every 30 seconds (it seems).

Obviously, this is completely not how this machine is supposed to be set up, but I can't seem to get past square one to improve matters.

Any suggestions?

Are there some kind of exchange addins you have to have on the server end?

Thanks,

I ended up getting it straightened out, pretty sure. It was the SSL setting.

Unfortunately, this was _after_ I screwed up my Outlook 2003 setup by installing the OL2002 software that came on the disc. {sigh}

How Did you fix it?

I'm having the same trouble trying to logon on to Exchange server through 1and1.

What did you need to fix with the SSL?

Thanks!
