AS4 to 3.x ???

I just rolled back to ppc2003se from WM5. I then uninstalled AS4.01 & installed AS3.8, to get back the ability to sync via ethernet. Unfortunately, I can't get AS3.8 to open. After the 1st 'discovery' sync, the tray icon turns green, but when I double-click on the icon, nothing happens. Wcescomm can be started manually, and it works, but wcesmgr appears to do nothing. Anyone seen this or have any ideas?

I found the answer on another message board. Here are the relevant quotes:

Quote:
To successfully uninstall ActiveSync 4.1 and reinstall a previous version of ActiveSync on your desktop PC, perform the following procedure.
1. Uninstall ActiveSync 4.1.
2. Open File Explorer, navigate to the System32 directory in your Windows directory, and then manually delete the dynamic-link library Rapi.dll.
3. Reinstall the previous version of ActiveSync.

Well that work but now it will only connect as a guest. I cannot set up a usb partnership. Seems to be fighting me every step of the way today.

Looks like you may also need to delete C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\RAPI.DLL which you did and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CEUTIL.DLL.
