How I solved my Activesync problem

Since I bought my Axis X50V this summer, I have been able to sync flawlessly (which was also true of the previous two Pocket PCs I had, btw). I was relying on 3.71, and then switched to 3.8. But, either way. Things were going fine. Then one day, I come in, and I can't get activesync to work. Sometimes it would connect, do nothing, and then break contact. Other times, it wouldn't even connect. And, then once in a blue moon, it would connect fine and sync. To make matters worse, I could get Activesync to work reliably on either my home or work PC (had partnerships on both).

The fix? I went into activesync on my Axim, clicked on Tools/Options/PC/Options/ and then I clicked "yes" for "Maintain connection" under "when syncing remotely."

Now, the darn thing is working fine.
So, color me confused.

No joy on mine. I have figured out that my PPC's activesync keeps shutting down. I have turned on "continual sync" and do not have the Axim turn off when connected. Very frustrating. Really limits what I can do with the device.

Any other ideas?

Update: Reinstalled 3.8 -- will see if that makes a difference. Did one sync, but need to get some work done and see if it keeps working.

dprimm, as you probably know the most likely cause of the type of behavior you are describing is a firewall of someking (i.e., Zonealarms, etc).

To be honest though, I haven't found one version of activesync to be any more reliable than the other.

I sorry you're having this trouble, btw. Frustrating!

I am able to do it only by BT...If I try to do it on the cradle, the Sygate firewall does not let me do it. only if I kill the process, but still no internet access...
