Changing the Desktop Sync Folder

Does anyone know how/where to change the name of the desktop folder so that ActiveSync still works w/ syncing files? Figure it must be in XP's registery somewhere. Using WinXP SP2 and WM2003 SE.

I don't know of a way to change the name of the folder, but I do know that you can get a freeware program that will sync folders that you define. You can even sync folders on memory cards. The program in Mobsync, google should find it easily.

Thanks, I already use MobSync. Looking for a way of changing the name of the folder. You can see the entry while in ActiveSync: Files (Rght Clk)>Settings but its greyed out???

Use the registry editor and search for the "Briefcase" value, then modify the data as necessary. Remember to shutdown ActiveSync completed before changing the registry value

Go to "Settings" "About" then click on "Device ID" and then rename to whatever you'ld like. I hope that helps.

Okay, I think this is the answer to my problem, and I found the registry entry, but..... Here's my stupid noob question: How do I completely shutdown ActiveSync? It is not listed in Task Manager Applications, but still shows up (greyed out) in the system tray. (I couldn't find this from a search)

Thanks!

(edit) Never mind, I found it using google: Kill 'wcescomm.exe' process using Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del)
