On the Aero thing...... I am running it currently on an integrated X300 (64MB ram) and it's fine, I just have to pull the screen res down a notch (to 1100 somethinginstead of 1280) to use the transparent glass thing.
I find that it's really good - despite a couple of issues with drivers - my NEC 3500AG dissapears randomly, and I needed new realtek ac97 drivers for audio.
A friend of mine is that impressed that he has moved most of his work onto Vista now, he uses XP as the backup - not bad for a beta eh?
I remember the first release of XP as well, and 98.... and 95... and none of them were anywhere near as stable as this beta is.
I don't find the flip3d thing that useful though - not when you get the thumbnails in alt-tab anyway.....
One mans features is annother bloat. With the ever increassing computer speed and power Microsoft has released an OS that uses up that performace increase. Its not wasted just used. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, if your hardware keeps up. For example. I had a 16 Mhz 286 with 1Meg of memory and it screamed on dos, Windows 3.1 killed it. I had a 100 Mhz Pentium that screamed on Window 95, I still have a 200 Mhz system with Windows 98 and it works great. I even use it as a development web server. It will not run XP though. Right now I have a 1.3Ghz P4 with 1G mem and XP pro. No performance issues. Vista will probably kill it.
bloat means useless features and frills. example? having menus have drop shadows and fade in and out as they are used. has this ever helped you get your work done faster?
anyway, that's besides the point. i am also a beta tester for windows vista, and i'll try and report how my x51v works out using it. don't have it installed yet, but it's because i've been living between homes and haven't had time to fool with it. the beta e-mails i've received have suggested that windows vista is going to be released in 2007 sometime.

Sorry, i rambled on... I am just a bit excited.
This reply is directed to FireLord as well. Any graphics card, as I stated before, that FULLY SUPPORTS DX9 and PS2 should work. Check out NVidias and ATI's websites for more info.

FireLord, yes it does support that card. For more info on Nvidia cards, see here:
Has anybody found a way to sync contacts and stuff with Vista yet? It won't let me install ActiveSync but there's no option in Windows Mobility to do any synching. This is the first big thing that makes me want to reinstall XP right away :(

There is a update on Vista that came out today 6/15. This will allow you to sync with Outlook. I am running Beta 12 and says I need to setup Outlook within Mobile Sync Center. But they are getting there.
