will 3.8 battle 4.+ and make a laptop mess?

I have one laptop inspiron 1100 and two pda´s:
a old x3 running perfectly with active sync vers 3.8
now i just bought a x51 and probably gonna need to install 4.0
The thing is my girlfriend will be using the old pda so we need to be able to sync both of them...what to do???
I dont wanna ruin something that already works. Will it be possible to have two versions of AS installed on one laptop, maybe with different windows accounts?
Anybody got any experience on this?
thx in advance, mattis

I didn't think this was possible since it will be running all the time but I bet if you change the folder name of the 3.8 version and then install 4.x where it is supposed to go it might work for you. the x3 should work ok with 4.x but you will lose wifi sync. you can't have them both running though cause they will fight for the com port. But there is a program called killsync that you could use and then start up the version you want to use. might be worth trying. before you install it that way, i would try moving the 3.8 to another folder and see that it still works. another possible issue is that when you install 4.x it might kill 3.8 in the registry. and it is a little tricky to remove 4.x all the way so you can go back to 3.8 but then your x51 won't work so.....

You can use AS4.1 for both WM2003/SE and WM5 Axim. AS4.1 will switch to compatible mode if it detects WM2003/SE

i just upgraded AS with the bundled CD from the x51 and we have also created different user account in windows though i´m not sure if thats really necessary. :approve:

bigdave240: i tried to move AS 3.8 and/or rename the program folder but that did not work at all...
