Which version for WM5?

I have a variety of old Pocket PCs that all came with different versions of ActiveSync. Should it be possible to connect a WM5 device to a version of ActiveSync older than 4.1? If so, then how old can I go and still connect? I am not interested in any syncing - just a basic connection.

WM5 will work with version 4.0 and up.
