ActiveSync 4.1 - Synchronization trouble?

Installed 4.0 from the Dell OEM disk onto my new X51v.

Recd error message so downloaded 4.1 from Microsoft site; still receiving error message?

Have turned off Firewall, AV off, tried different USB ports, left Microsoft Outlook 2002 open; still can't sync.

Heres what happens:

- recognizes PDA "connected" and receive screen "Looking for Changes"

- after exactly 6 minutes receive message "Synchronization cannot be completed successfully, reconnect and try again....................................".

- "Synchronization Error".

Any help would be appreciated; thanks,
Paul

When you 1st install 4.0, do you recall:
1. What the error code is?
2. What was the msg?
3. Did you've the firewall on?
4. What firewall (full name) are you using?

Good morning,
Didn't receive an error code, just same message as above.

Only Firewall that I turned off was the one in Windows XP.

Thanks,
Dynamo

Just a guess, but I've read elsewhere in the forum of antivirus programs causing problems with Active Sync

Look in you PC's device manager and see if axim or pda or windows moblile device appears. if it does delete it. then connect the axim and try syncing.

This happened to me with X51v. in the end the only way I could restore synch was to uninstall activesync, unpug usb cable to cradle. then install activesync again and only after that plug in usb cable. hard reset axim and turn on and place in cradle. activesync partnership wizard kicks in and sets up new partneship. then resinstall all axim software from scratch. took about 3 hours in all, but now all working fine and in fact better than before!

lesson - bought spb backup which takes about 10 mins to restore everything on axim and make sure pim indo backup on PC.
