ActiveSync not scanning USB port
I have read through a lot of posts regarding the X51v and ActiveSync 4.1. I just received the Axim and tried many times to install on my Toshiba laptop running Win2K. I tried on a Dell workstation and everything worked fine. I spent about an hour on the phone with Dell support, unstalling drivers, deleting devices, deleting registry keys, etc. When I plug the Axim into the cradle, my system recoginzes the new hardware and creates a network device within Device Manager, which, according to Dell, is how the new OS (WM5) shows up in the Device Manager. I uninstalled my firewall and AV software. When I try to sync, it scans the COM3 port (I don't know why) then tells me device was not found. It appears that it never scans the USB port because when I disable COM3 and try to sync, it fails immediately, stating device not found.
I am pulling out what is left of my hair. I have run through ALL of the ActiveSync troubleshooting steps, uninstalling devices and deleting registry keys as I go along. I have rebooted uncountable times, both on my laptop and the Axim. The ActiveSync software never scans the USB port. HELP!! ![]()

When you connect the usb cable the PC will create a network connection in device manager, that is correct. There should not be a Windows Mobile device.
In the device manager did you click on the network adapter - Windows Moble device and check its status. It should say enabled. You can troubleshoot that from there. I would not try to reinstall the driver however..... In Activesync connection settings did you select "Allow USB connections"?

Yes, USB is selected in the Connection wizard for ActiveSync. In fact, one of the ActiveSync troubleshooting suggestions is to turn this off, exit ActiveSync, start it again and turn it back on. It still only scans the COM port for the device, never the USB port.

I too have had problems since December and cannot get active sync to connect to groupwise to sync my calendars. We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, upgrade the activesync and groupwise versions and it still won't work!
Any suggestions??? | |||||
