Aximsiteactivesyncicon WM5 is a rip-off

I've reconfigured all the ports with Norton and thought ActiveSync would work. No.

How does Microsoft get away with such a shoddy product? If a product isn't fit for the purpose it was intended it's breaking the law of fair trade, surely?

I'm very unhappy.

Help! Help! Help!

I have just connected my new 51v, did everything according to the instructions. All I get during Sync is the dame green thing going round and round. On my 51v I see Exchange Server Synchronized: none. I than tap Attention required. I see Result: Cannot connect with current connection settings. Support code:0x85020006.

I have tried soft and hard reset, nothing helps.

Please HELP! HELP! HELP!

Mivacron: Unless you are using a MS Exhange server to get email for your PPC, then the AS settings are incorrect on the device. You should be looking for Outlook email from the computer. Should be in the AS settings on the device, or you can redo the AS "Get connected" wizard, just be sure and delete the old partnership first. Then, when the wizard gets to email, do not select the server option. Hope that helps...

For others, I was having the same sync issues tonight, and I TEMPORARILY disabled Norton Anti-virus, AND did the listed below, stolen from Zoandar listed on the posted link above! :approve:

Quote:
Support Code 85010014 means that there is a problem with Outlook when you are trying to sync.

There are tons of posts about this error code, and I read a lot fo them when I had the exact same error code setting up my Axim for the first time 3 weeks ago (BEFORE I learned about, and applied, the A06 upgrade). What I had to do was very aggressively eliminate the existing Outlook installation:

1- Archive my entire Outlook Personal Folders to a PST file.
2- Uninstall Outlook completely
3- Delete the Outlook folder from which Outlook had been running. This could vary if youhad Outlook installed all by itself, or as a part of Office. Do a search in Windows Explorer for "outlook". You should find the folder that way.
4- Uninstall Active Sync
5- Delete the folder Active Sync was running from.
6- SHUT DOWN ( NOT Restart) your PC. (There is a difference.)
7- Start your PC back up, and install Outlook and ActiveSync again.
8- When you get things going again, you can Import your PST file back into Outlook to get everything back.

By doing that, I was able to get rid of the Support Code issue and sync successfully. If you still have problems, let me know and I can tell you a few even more aggressive steps to give Outlook more amnesia when you uninstall it. It is quite adamant about coming back with the same settings it had before, and it gets these from all over your PC. If one of them was causing the problem, and it gets restored, the problem comes back too.

Hope that helps.
As for AS version, I was told to run 3.8 as the latest version if you are on WM2003, and not to go past that until you upgrade to WM5.

I, too , hope all that helps!

You can just copy the pst files C:\Documents and Settings\*your login profile name OR default used if no login used*\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook . Copy everything there over to a safe location. If win won' let you copy, ctr+alt+del >processes > select "Outlook.exe" > end process.

AND/OR download a program called Backrex
http://www.tucows.com/preview/380746

The demo is free, fast and backs up everything that counts unless you use things like stationary.

BTW, have you tried setting up a new profile as opposed to using the default? It might not work for you, but it cured the sync problems I had after I rolled back from an obtained Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2002. You will need to set this new profile as your default and copy your data over from the old .pst. You'll have to re enter the e-mail accounts and rules as well.

Tried for two days to sync my Axim X51v with no luck (it stopped working after my wife disconnected the cradle to use with her Axim). Finally in desperation I called Dell. The computer was asking me several questions one of which was my Dell serial number. It told me that it was located under the battery. The computer hung up on me before I could remove the battery. I found the serial number and called back. I reinserted the battery and pushed the power button with the Axim in the cradle. To my great surpise it established a connection with the computer and has been working every since!!! Hope this helps if you are having trouble getting a valid IP with DHCP. I kept getting the message that my network connection was not working.

Today I found that Norton Utilities 2006 leaves "Internet Worm Protection" enabled even when you disable Auto-Protect. I turned the Worm protection off and got my first succesful sync. Hope this helps somebody.

based on the error code you posted, i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=277988&

give it a try and see if it corrects the problem. sounds like it might be your issue.

Aximsiteactivesyncicon Activesync connects but does not sync

1) disconnect cradle from computer - both data and power
2) install software
3) reconnect cradle and then the pocket pc when asked

This always works for me.

Beware of connecting through a USB hub!

I often have problems syncing if I attach my cradle through a USB hub, rather than through a USB port on the computer.
