Reset on the road

So I'm on vacation right now and about 3 days in, my Axim x50v running Iguidance completely locks up. I had to hard reset so now all my installed programs are wiped away. I'll have to reinstall everthing when I get home. My main question is this... If I put the now factory reset Axim into the cradle hooked up to my PC, what can I expect to happen?
Will the info saved on the PC be copied onto the Axim?
Or will the Axim try to blank all the saved info on the PC?

The info on your PC should be synced over to your Axim (unless you have "Always replace items on my PC" selected in your ActiveSync settings), but if you want to be sure, you can backup your Outlook data.

PS: a backup utility such as Sprite would have allowed you to hard reset then restore from backup in a matter of minutes without access to a desktop PC. :approve:

Patster,

I know this won't be of any comfort now but might help if it ever happens again....

before resorting to a hard reset try removing the battery...

my x51 has locked a number of times and I couldn't soft reset..popping the battery out did the trick... (i know the x50/x51 use memory differently too) - just an idea for future use!

oh and always check the lock button hasn't been inadvertently switched on ;)

always sucks to have to do a full reset....

Yep, I tried everything... even removing the battery, but no luck. I'm home now so I'll try syncing up later tonite to see what happens.

Too late for this time, but once in a great while I have been successful avoiding a hard reset by taking it up to the point where I can press the button to erase all data, but then pressing the other button instead and then popping the battery.

A hard reset is not all that traumatic with a reliable backup regimen. There is a link on my View MyPDA that discusses backups in detail.
