Worried X51v Unable to Sync contact, Calendar, Note, Email

Someone please help. I am a new user of Axim x51v. ROM Version 06, WM5.0
with Windows XP Professional SE2. Microsoft Outlook 2003. I am able to conect the x51v to the pc through the USB. But am unable to Sync. Either the Contact, Calendar, Email and notes. Please help.

SORRY! I missed out one more info: I am using Active Sync 4.1.

Are you getting any error messages, does Active Sync start and the "hang", please provide more details on what happens when you plug your Axim into the computer.

No error message. Active Sync 4.1 recognizes the PC. Conection between PC and PPC is fine. I just don't understand why it could not Sync contacts, email, calendar eventhough I have selected for Syncing. The " Active sync Syncronizing" is what I read in my PC, and it keeps searching, thats all.

A fairly common problem with Active Sync is firewalls, I have read other posts that Zone Alarm can cause AS problems. Have you tried turning off your firewall? Not as common is AntiVirus causing problems.

I have had the same problems. I note MS say installing 4.1 should fix all!

Anyway, using all the help on Aximsite and the links given, first of all I tried Syncing one program at a time, proving Outlook was the culprit. I then downloaded a newer version of scanpst.exe which found errors in Outlook 2003 right enough and fixed them. That though didn't solve the problem.

Next I went to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, MS Office, Change, Repair, Restart -- still not solved.

Back to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, MS Office, Change, Uninstall Outlook. DON'T try to sync. Into Control Panel yet again, Add/Remove Programs, MS Office, Change, Reinstall Outlook. I didn't use my backup file for Folders and Calendar, but started afresh. Then I brought in my Contacts from my backup.

FINALLY, syncing was successful. So here's hoping ...

Cool

I have had my x51v for about two months now and I just finally got my contacts to sync. I still havne't figured out the mail issue with Outlook 2003. But here is my solution for how I got my contacts in there (I would catagorize that as a win for the battle, but not for the war). So the other day someone posted something on the main about Plaxo. I have had Plaxo a long time and it is great. It synchronizes with your Outlook. Long story short, here is what I did:

1) Downloaded Thunderbird from Mozilla.
2) Loaded Plaxo toolbar to import all contacts into Thunderbird.
3) Downloaded Finch Sync so Thunderbird would sync with the Axim.
4) Whowla! My contacts appeared.

My next project is to get the Calendar to work (Sunbird), but I think Mozilla is still trying to develop it. Finch sync wouldn't work for the Calendar part of Thunderbird. I don't care too much about the mail issue, but it would be nice to get the calendar to work. Any suggestions would be great! Anyways...hope this can help someone, because the time it takes to re-enter contacts can be a beast.

Great work around! If Dell & Microsoft were only that talented, WM5 would work out of the box. I mean, they should be able to....right???
