Question Activesync won't create a partnership

I can't create a partnership, thus it won't connect my x50 basic to my laptop. I tried versions 3.8 and 4.1 and both don't let me create the partnership.

I also tried via bluetooth but the bluetooth on the x50 after Wm5 is all screwy and I don't understand how to make a connection...

so the main thing is, I can't get it to create a partnership.

Reboot the PC and soft reset the PPC. Do not put the PPC in the Cradle. Deleted any old partnership (In ActiveSync go to File -> Delete Partnerships). Make sure you have admin right to the PC. Put the Axim in the cradle.

Go to the About applet in Start > Settings > System and tap the Device ID i=tab. Change the Device name: to what you want and try again.

Allrighty then. Change your Device ID per my instructions. Restart your PC then dock/cradle your Ax again.

To clear the RAM and make sure that the installation is completed.

Nope, still doesn't create a new partnership on the PC.

remove 4.01 and reinstall 3.8. It is the most reliable out there for the Axim.

If it doesn't work create a new forder in C:\Program Files and name it Special. Install Active Sync to that new folder and try to Sync.
