Who likes Activesync?

I'm posting a poll here to find out who uses activesync regularly, and whp thinks it is a waste of time? Is it useful to have your email, contacts etc regularly updated, or should pda's be separated from pc's and not have to rely on them for basic tasks such as email and installing applications?

But should Axim's have to rely on PC's all the time? I have no complaints about Activesync either, but I think in the future it could become unnecessary.

but we can work either way... i can create content, edit my pim data and install software without activesync...

on the otherhand my Personal Digital ASSISTANT works with my pc and i collect the work from that, and my shared pimdata and sync it with me

best of both worlds?

or am i missing the point?

The thread title asks if we "like" activesync but the post asks if we use it. Which is it? I use AS, but like many users I have had frustrating issues that don't leave me feeling warm and fuzzy . I use AS and I like my data being sync'd daily. I hate that my data gets multiplied occassionally and that I'm forced to attend to AS when it screws up and stops working properly giving the infamous "Attention Needed" as the only reason/resolution.

I do like it, but I think that as these pda's develop, people won't want tho connect to their pc all the time.

ActiveSync works perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned. For the most part it's "fire & forget" ... just plug in the cradle, synchronize in a few seconds and it's backed up. OK by me. -CB

Sorry, I wasn't watching what I typed.

"Who LIKES using Activesync?" is what I meant.

by 'developing pda' do you mean the umpc?

No, I meant newer models and software eg. Axim X52 and Windows Mobile 6.

I don't think the umpc will come to anything...people said the tablet pc would replace the laptop. An umpc would never fit in a pocket

Not as easy as my Palm software

My Palm T3 connects and syncs with no problem to what ever computer I use. The activesync only will sync to my home computer and not my work computer. It also takes forever to complete both a standard sync and the add new programs. Often it takes turning the Axim on and off a few times before the new program or files is recognized.

I hate activesync. It worked one time - when i first got my x51v. In order to get it to work i have to perform a hard reset.

I'm not exactly fond of it... but exchange syncing (which goes through AS) kicks butt!

Like it, I do. uhhhhh, I hate saying that. I don't sync email, but contacts, calendar, files, TV guide, and dbs are great.

I hate that I can only sync to two PCs, I need three. I hate that I can not sync to SD cards, I hate that AS does not give good diagnostic messages when it screws up. I still have one PC that AS can not be installed on. I hate that Bling bling noise every 3 minutes. I hate the disconnected network shares.

It works for me and does what I need it to, so yes I like it.
I find keeping my contacts at work & home as well as calendars synced very useful.
